The Cape Breton West Islanders and the Novas open play at the 2017 Monctonian AAA Hockey Challenge in New Brunswick.
The Islanders, who are among 30 teams in the midget division, open the tournament against the TriPen Osprey (NFLD) at 2 p.m.
They play their second game against Fredericton Friday afternoon.
The Novas, in the 24-team bantam division, play their first game against the North West Bulls (NB) at 10:15 a.m.
They return to action for their second game against the Rangers (NSMBHL) Friday morning.
There’s one game in the Cape Breton West High School Hockey League.
The Richmond Academy Hurricanes host the SAERC Saints.
It’s the second game in as many nights for the Saints, who are coming off an 8-2 win against Inverness/Baddeck Academy in Port Hawkesbury Wednesday night.
The Hurricanes (2-5-0) are tied with Dalbrae for fourth in the six-team league with six points.
Puck drop at the Richmond Arena in Louisdale is 7:30 p.m.
