The travel policy was once again discussed at Richmond Co. council’s regular meeting Monday night.
Brian Marchand, the municipality’s warden, says lots of changes are needed- there’s a lot of problems with it.
Gilbert Boucher, councillor, raised concern about the number of delegates sent to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities meeting, saying only two delegates would be necessary.
After the meeting, Marchand told The Hawk he’s also in favour of the idea.
“I fully support only sending two- one, two or three; not sending five, no, that just is too many.” he said. “If one or two go, I’m okay with that, for sure.”
Marchand said five councillors went to their first UNSM meeting in 2016, but they need to make smart decisions.
“I mean our big thing- we don’t need everybody travelling,” he said. “We really cut back our travel over the year.”
Marchand said the limit of two excludes the CAO; they’re trying to have a meeting with the travel policy committee to discuss things further.
