A number of local teams are taking part in NSSAF slo-pitch provincials.
The Richmond Academy Hurricanes, who are hosting the Division 3 boys championship in Louisdale and River Bourgeois, play St. Mary’s Bay at 10 a.m. and Forest Heights at 2 p.m.
The SAERC Saints, the other local team in the eight-team tournament, face Springhill at 12:30 p.m. and Barrington at 3:30 p.m.
The Richmond Academy Hurricanes, East Antigonish Academy Mustangs, Cape Breton Highlands Academy Huskies and Dalbrae Dragons are competing at Division 3 girls provincials in Queensland.
Richmond Academy plays Forest Heights, the host team, at 10 a.m., then meets Middleton at 2 p.m.
East Antigonish and Cape Breton Highlands Academy square off and Dalbrae faces Barrington, both at 12:30 p.m.; East Antigonish and Dalbrae play and Cape Breton Highlands Academy faces Barrington, with both those games getting underway at 3:30 p.m.
The preliminary rounds of both tournaments continue Saturday morning, with the semi-finals and championship games Saturday afternoon; you can find a link to the full schedules here.
Several athletes from the Quad Counties are competing in NSSAF track-and-field provincials.
It takes place on the campus of Cape Breton University in Sydney; it kicks off Friday, and wraps up Saturday.
