We’re less than a month away from the opening of the 2018 Special Olympics National Summer Games in Antigonish.
The summer games run from July 31-Aug. 4.
After Monday night’s regular town council meeting, Laurie Boucher, the town’s mayor, said they continue to get ready for a huge influx of people.
“Antigonish is going to be inundated with visitors, athletes, coaches and staff,” she said. “We’re hoping that everybody is prepared for the group of people coming in.”
Boucher said most of the plans are already in place, but they’re still getting volunteers ready and setting up volunteer schedules.
She said everyone is excited for the games to get underway.
