Celtic Air Services officials say they’re ready for a big show.
Air Show Cape Breton takes place at the Port Hawkesbury Airport.
Free shuttles start leaving the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre at 3 p.m.; you can park for free at the provincial building.
Dave Morgan, the company’s president, told The Hawk Morning Show the Canadian Forces Snowbirds start their march out just after 5 p.m.
“It takes a while for them to fire up, get the aircraft going in take-off formation, then they’ll go out, form up somewhere out over the county and come back in and start their show at about (5:45 p.m.),” he said. “The take-off, the startup, everything is part of the show; definitely something you want to see.”
Morgan says the actual show, once the snowbirds return to the airport, will last between 35-and-45 minutes.
Damian MacInnis, Celtic Air Services’ vice-president, said a lot of planning went into the event.
MacInnis said it’s a unique opportunity for the area.
“It is kind of surreal that we have the Snowbirds here,” he said. “It really comes down to highlighting the airport and trying to push people in the aviation world and just to get a better understanding of what we’re doing out there as a company and really giving back to the community in a different way.”
Morgan said shuttles will return to the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre until everyone is back.
