The mayor of Port Hawkesbury says the Pitt-Napean St. project is drawing to a close.
The section of Pitt St. between Reeves St. and Church St. re-opened to traffic Tuesday afternoon; it had been shut down since October.
Other sections of Pitt St. and Nepean St. have been closed during construction.
After December’s regular town council meeting Tuesday night, Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, Port Hawkesbury’s mayor, said the project is pretty close to completion at this point.
“The bulk of the underground infrastructure is in place, most of the asphalt is down, she said. “Hopefully the complete project will be done prior to the winter.”
Chisholm-Beaton said there may be some sidewalk and curb work left to tidy up.
She said they hope to have it finished soon, but it could be pushed until the spring, depending on the weather.
