Members of the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board have approved the transfer of the Canso Electric Light Utility to Nova Scotia Power reps.
Officials with the Municipality of the District of Guysborough inherited the utility when Canso dropped town status and became part of Guysborough in 2012.
A UARB hearing on the $1 sale took place in Halifax Tuesday.
In a release, board members say they heard no evidence opposed to the application at Tuesday’s hearing.
They say the transfer, which includes all of the utility’s physical assets, is effective Jan. 1; Canso residents will start paying NSP rates at that time.
