Saint Francis Xavier University is line for part of $25 million in provincial COVID-19 relief spending.
A release from the Department of Labour and Advanced Education says $3,646,100 has been earmarked for the Antigonish University to help manage the impact of the pandemic.
Minister of Labour and Advanced Education Lena Metlege Diab says officials have heard from their counterparts in universities.
“We know they are facing new challenges as their operations pivot due to COVID-19,” she says. “This funding will address some of those challenges and help meet their immediate needs.”
Diab says all 10 universities faced lost revenues in tuition and residence fees, and are facing increased costs around information technology, curriculum development, and other costs associated with public health directives.
The $25 million will be split as follows:

-Atlantic School of Theology $218,800
-Cape Breton University $2,187,700
