The Town of Antigonish will be providing a donation of $10,000 to the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex in Guysborough.
Mayor Laurie Boucher says while the donation wasn’t in the budget at the time when the complex was being built, she is happy to provide it now.
“And we’re very pleased to now be able to give the money, not for new construction, just for general operation.” Boucher said.
She went on to say that while it may be easy to get funding for a new build project, the real challenge comes with facility upkeep.
“Council does realize that it’s easy to get money to build a facility, but the real challenge is in continuing the operation and we’re happy to be able to contribute to help that happen.” She said.
The motion was passed to provide the donation at last night’s regular council meeting.
