During this week’s regular council meeting, the Town of Port Hawkesbury approved a change to the Taxi Policy that will help in the event of extraordinary gas prices.
Now, senior staff will have the ability to invoke temporary taxi rate increases and decreases based on external factors like fuel prices.
Another policy change that was made during the meeting involved the Town Video Conferencing Policy.
Councillors and staff will now be able to attend meetings virtually when necessary for reasons such as travel or illness.
This will allow for greater participation consistency for meetings.
The one stipulation is that anyone wishing to appear via teleconference will need to ensure that the other meeting participants and the public are able to see and hear them at all times.
