The Prime Minister says they stand with the hundreds of firefighters and evacuees of wildfires in Canada.
Justin Trudeau warns it may be an especially severe wildfire season throughout the summer.
“We’re going to get through this together. Our government will keep being there with whatever it takes to keep people safe, and provide support,” said Trudeau.
There are over 2,200 wildfires burning in our country right now.
Three requests for federal assistance have been approved in Nova Scotia, Alberta and Quebec.
This sends the army to those areas to provide relief.
Trudeau says with the given projections, they have enough resources to help all provinces.
He says if things get worse, they have contingency plans in place.
“Whether it’s leaning more on international supports, or setting up other resources, we will be there to ensure all Canadians are protected.”
Today, the Government of Canada provided an update on the #wildfire seasonal outlook and the continuing efforts to support Canadians through this year’s fire season and future seasons.
