Nova Scotia Power (NSP) is asking its customers to pay for the leftover tab related to Hurricane Fiona.
The utility is looking to collect nearly $25 million for overtime, meals and travel related to storm cleanup.
NSP states these costs would have a significant impact on the financial health of the utility.
Last year’s damaging storm knocked out electricity to more than 500,000 homes and businesses and cost the company more than $120-million in restoration work.
Overall, $385-million in damages were incurred in our province with downed trees, storm surge and roads.
Nova Scotia Power has outlined its position in an application to the provincial regulator, who will have to approve or reject the request.
