It was a tragic weekend on Nova Scotia roads.
Six people died in four separate crashes with each under investigation.
In Inverness County, two teens are among those who lost their lives after a head-on crash in Mabou along with a 71-year-old man from Utah. Three others were sent to hospital with serious injuries.
The loss has sent shockwaves through the area.
RCMP spokesperson Carlie McCann sent condolences to those affected by the crashes and added each is unique and has its own set of questions to be answered.
“Any crash or collision is going to be unique and it’s going to have its own specific concerns that needed to be followed up on or investigated.” said McCann.
Dalbrae Academy opened its doors on Saturday and offered grief counseling services to anyone needing to talk. In the nearby community of Whycocomagh, the decision was made to cancel the communities summer festival celebrations.
In Lunenburg County, a 23-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman died in separate motorcycle crashes on Sunday in Deans Corner and First South.
The crashes happened five hours apart. RCMP say both were from Lunenburg and died when their bikes left the road.
“I am heartsick thinking about neighbours and friends who are grieving unimaginable losses, and for the first responders called to these tragedies,” said MLA for Lunenburg Susan Corkum-Greek in a Facebook post.
In Digby County, a person died in a single vehicle crash in Centreville early Saturday morning.
RCMP is working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service to identify the driver.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding each incident.
