Work has begun on a historic project to replace the wastewater treatment plant in Inverness County.
All three levels of government are spending $18 million on the upgrades to increase capacity, make things more efficient and support growth.
The work is being done by Sydney-based Brilun Construction Ltd.
Warden Bonny MacIsaac says in a statement, it is the largest infrastructure initiative the municipality has ever taken on.
“This work is much needed and is going to have a positive impact on the quality of life in this community for generations. It is a building block for the future growth of Inverness County as a whole.”
Increased traffic and noise are expected during construction, Monday to Thursday 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until mid to late 2026.
