Canada has unveiled their new border plan.
It includes AI, dog teams, drones, RCMP helicopters, and 24/7 border surveillance.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc says U.S. and Canada police forces will do more to work together.
“It’s good for the taxpayers in the two countries, but it’s also good for the public security of both countries, as well,” he said.
Ottawa hopes the $740-million-dollar security plan will appease incoming president Donald Trump.
He threatened to put 25 per cent tariffs on all Canadian imports if they didn’t tighten up the border.
LeBlanc would not say if these new border measures would prevent those tariffs.
“I’m confident that as we continue to work with our American partners, they ‘ll see that our resolve is absolute.”
