Four people in Pictou County face 56 charges related to drug trafficking, guns, and stolen property.
On April 24, a coalition of police agencies used a warrant to search a home on Gill Court in Pictou, as part of an ongoing investigation, and they arrested five people, according to a news release from the RCMP.
The agencies, known as the Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, include the Pictou County District RCMP, Westville Police Service, and Stellarton Police Service. Multiple other RCMP units helped in the search as well.
Officers found “a quantity of heroin, prescription pills, and trace amounts of other drugs,” the release said, along with a handgun, a sawed-off shotgun, and bullets for both.
Four of the people arrested, aged 29, 30, 42 and 50, face multiple charges, including:
- possession of heroin for trafficking
- possession of codeine for trafficking
- multiple weapons possession offences
- possessing property obtained by crime
Police say each person also faces individual offences, but they do not list each in the news release.
One of the arrested people was released without charges. Three appeared in court and were remanded into custody, and one was released with a first court date set for July.
