An incredibly tragic crash in the Annapolis valley has left five people dead and one man in critical condition on Highway 101.
RCMP say it was just after 11 p.m., Saturday, on Highway 101 between Hantsport and Falmouth when two vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes.
Four people were pronounced dead the scene.
A 43-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, both from Falmouth, in one vehicle, as well as a 45-year-old woman from Oxford and 58-year-old man from Nappan, in the other vehicle.
A 50-year-old man from Oxford was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead.
A 29-year-old man from British Columbia was taken to hospital by LifeFlight and remains in critical condition.
Condolences have started pouring in on social media.
Firefighters of Nova Scotia say, “Rest in Peace to all those who have passed away as a result of this horrific accident. Our condolences to all those affected.”
MP for Kings-Hants, Kody Blois made a statement on Facebook.
“A terrible motor vehicle tragedy occurred last night in our communities in the West Hants area resulting in five fatalities and a passenger in critical condition. Sending my condolences and prayers to the family members and loved ones who were killed, and my appreciation to First Responders for their work under extremely difficult circumstances,” says Blois.
RCMP ask for any witnesses who have not spoken to police or have dashcam footage of the collision to come forward.
