Ready to get moving?
The Municipality of Inverness County is gearing up for the ParticipACTION Community Challenge.
In June, Canadians are encouraged to embrace the benefits of physical activity for health and fun.
There are prizes for the most active community in each province and territory, and for Canada’s Most Active Community.
Here’s how you can join the movement:
- Local organizations can register their June physical activity programs and events on the ParticipACTION website. Track participation to help the municipality’s chance of winning.
- Individuals sign up on the ParticipACTION website and take the pledge to be active throughout the month, whether at home, school, work, or in your neighbourhood. Every step counts!
The municipality will also run a physical activity challenge starting June 1st.
According to a release, residents can submit their minutes of activity and action photos by email to [email protected] to compete for prizes of fitness equipment and gift cards from the Recreation & Community Wellness Department.
Recreation Program Coordinator Jason Calder says, “We’ve consistently been ranked among the top communities in Nova Scotia, and we’re ready to push even harder this year!”
In 2023 Inverness County was crowned the Most Active Community in Nova Scotia.
Calder says, “This year we are aiming to be the most active in Canada!”
The national winner will earn a $100,000 prize to invest in local sport and recreation activities.
