A friendly competition is set between two Quad County harbours.
The Bluenose II will be in Port Hawkesbury from July 3rd to 6th. Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador will then cross Chedabucto Bay and visit Canso until July 8th.
During the iconic schooner’s 2020 visit, Canso and Whitehead competed to see which port had the better reception.
Canso Councillor Fin Armsworthy has now challenged Port Hawkesbury Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton to see which community presents the bigger welcoming flotilla this summer.
The town’s mayor has happily accepted.
In a release from the Canso Area Development Association, participants are encouraged to show the Canadian flag and look forward to sunshine and fair winds for the event.
A drone will be used to count the vessels in each port to determine the winning welcome.
