A hearing to set a sentencing date for a man involved in the Barrington Lake wildfire.
Dalton Clark Stewart of Villagedale will find out when he’ll be sentenced on Thursday in Shelburne Provincial Court.
Stewart pleaded guilty to failing to take reasonable effort to prevent a fire from spreading, a charge under the Forests Act.
He pleaded not-guilty to two other charges, including lighting a fire on privately owned land without permission.
He was charged under the Forests Act last year for the 2023 wildfire, which burned over 20,000 hectares and destroyed dozens of homes and structures.
