A youth has been charged after a sexual assault near a school in Kings County.
Last Friday, RCMP put out a call to the public for any information about the assault on a trail near Northeast Kings Education Centre in Canning.
They said a young person was walking on the trail when they were approached from behind and sexually assaulted.
The arrest was made after a search of a home in the community on Thursday turned up items that support the investigation.
The accused has been charged with sexual assault, assault and disguise with intent, and was released pending court July 24.
Supt. Jason Popik sayas the courage the victim showed in fighting off their attacker was tremendous, and through the support of the family, they identified the accused.
