Americans are keeping the Nova Scotia to Maine ferry busy this season.
The latest numbers from Bay Ferries show people from the U.S. coming to our province are the largest single group of users for the ‘CAT’ ferry.
The company says over 19,000 passengers have booked travel this season, down from over 24,000 this time last year.
President and CEO Mark Wilson says they’re trending close to last year in terms of bookings for Americans, and there are signs of continued growth.
He cites a Statistics Canada report of a significant decrease of Canadian resident return trips by car this tourism season, and says that’s holding true for bookings.
Wilson says the team is eager to welcome all travelers, as daily crossings begin later this week.
The ‘CAT’ has made 15 round trips as of June 12 with five cancellations due to weather.
