More than 100 people lined the street for the grand opening of the new Gateway Meat Market in Dartmouth.
The affordable grocery store first opened in 2008, and their latest expansion is the biggest one yet.

Brenda Haley, who was dressed as the cow, said you can either spend $150 on every grocery order at other stores, or you can spend $50 at Gateway.
“Which one are you going to choose? You can tell by the lineup. The community loves them. We love them, so that’s why we’re here,” said Haley.
Brittany Eldridge, a customer waiting in line, felt very similar.
She said she shops frequently at the store.
“They have fantastic prices. The customer service is phenomenal. So obviously we’re all here to support them on their opening day,” said Eldridge.
The new addition has more cash registers to get people in and out of the building faster.

Co-owner Tamara McKay says it takes a lot of work to run the store.
“Everybody’s saying thank you and that we’re putting food on their tables. It’s so, so heartwarming. So it’s really great being out here with this crowd,” said McKay.
