There was a warm welcome for cyclists taking part in the Terry Fox Ride of Hope in Antigonish on Tuesday evening.
The annual ride, which is entering its 11th year, started as a 350km trip before evolving into a cross-Canada journey this year, which marks the 45th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.
Fox’s brother Darrell organizes the ride and is participating alongside seven other cyclists.
The team started their journey in Vancouver on June 9, with a goal of biking 220 kilometres a day.
Town and County Council hosted a meet-and-greet at the Antigonish Arena for the riders arriving from Prince Edward Island on day 30.
Residents greeted them and took photos.
Councillors even arranged a home-cooked lasagna meal for the cyclists.
With stops including Linwood and Whycocomagh on Wednesday morning, the team is heading to Sydney.
The tour ends in Newfoundland Thursday.
