Nova Scotia wants to use their own wood for heating and construction.
All departments have been directed to look for mass timber, wood pellets and more that’s leftover from local sawmills.
Public works minister Fred Tilley says the government is leading by example by using more wood products in their own buildings.
Right now 20 public buildings use wood heat, including hospitals and schools.
Wood products will be prioritized in new construction, renovations and conversions from oil heat.
