You won’t have to travel so far to pay for taking garbage to the dump.
Inverness County has upgraded the Kenloch waste facility so you can pay on the spot, according to a news release from the Municipality of Inverness County.
Before, you used to have to pay at the Municipal Administration Building in Port Hood.
The upgrades include a debit machine and accurate scale tracking, which keeps a record of the kind of garbage, the amount and where it came from. The say that will help the municipality with their plans to divert waste from the landfill, help the facility better follow provincial rules, and improves how well they monitor the operation.
To help with tracking waste, the system will ask for your address when you drop off garbage, but the municipality won’t give that information out.
“This system brings us real-time transaction records, more accurate data, and on-site payment for the first time,” said Solid Waste Director Crystal Jones. “It helps us improve service while staying accountable to the province and the people we serve.”
