A 19-year-old man, wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant, is facing charges after speeding away from three separate traffic stops in Antigonish County.
RCMP say the first was on June 27, after receiving reports of an impaired driver around Fraser Mills.
The second was on July 8 after drivers were reported dangerously using an ATV in Lower South River, then again later that afternoon on Johns Pass.
The St. Andrews man was arrested at a store in Antigonish, July 30.
He is facing charges under the Motor Vehicle Act as well as flight from police, dangerous operation and not complying with a probation order.
“The safety risks of fleeing from a traffic stop are significant, as are the consequences,” says S/Sgt. Kim Hillier, Antigonish County District RCMP Commander. “Police will continue to investigate, gathering evidence such as dash cam and surveillance footage and information from witnesses, to locate and charge those who flee with a goal of keeping dangerous behaviour off our streets and roads.”
