Nova Scotia’s paddlers and cyclists combined for an eight-medal performance at the Canada Games, lifting the province into third place in the overall standings.
The gold rush began in the women’s canoe doubles 500, where Dartmouth’s Grace Theunissen and Hammonds Plains’ Victoria Tran pulled ahead in the final stretch to win.
In the women’s kayak single 500, Dartmouth’s Anna Archibald delivered a strong start and held her lead to the finish.
Middle Musquodoboit’s Alex Erith-Ellwood won the men’s kayak single 1000 with a decisive final push, while Fall River’s Elizabeth Fanok and Dartmouth’s Erika Walsh teamed up for gold in the women’s kayak doubles 1000.
Silver medals came in the men’s canoe single 500, canoe doubles 1000, and kayak doubles 500.
Cyclist Julia Snelgrove rounded out the day with bronze in the women’s individual time trial.
The results highlight Nova Scotia’s depth in paddle sports and its growing success in cycling, with athletes making their mark across multiple disciplines at the Games.
