The Nova Scotia Guard is on the ground in Annapolis County.
They’re helping with the fire incident command post, which is now in Bridgetown.
Director Neal Alderson says it’s been a tough week, and they’re supporting first responders however they can.
“Currently we have four members a day, a couple of people in the morning and a couple of people in the afternoon that are helping out. We do have the availability to scale up or down our presence there, depending on what the needs are,” said Alderson.
The Nova Scotia Guard was formed last summer, this is the second incident they’ve been active in.
The first was helping search and rescue officials in the search for Jack and Lilly Sullivan in Pictou County.
Alderson says wildfires are happening more frequently in the province.
“The Nova Scotia Guard is a way that we ensure we can bring in volunteers who want to help, so that it’s coordinated. They are brought in at the right time, and have the right skills to help.”
