Crews have begun to advance inward on the Long Lake wildfire in Annapolis County as the blaze remains out of control.
The battle against the fire is nearing four weeks, and it is still at 8,468 hectares.
In an update on social media Sunday afternoon, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says crews have wrapped the perimeter with fire breaks and have gained ground in some areas between 150 to 300 feet.
Saturday was a very dry day, however, DNR says the rain expected Sunday will be helpful.
No new reports of damage.
More than 150 homes still remain evacuated, while about 360 were able to return home last week.
Resources on hand include 40 DNR firefighters, 18 from Ontario, 40 from Quebec, 60 locals, 12 helicopters, four planes plus bird dog and about five pieces of heavy machinery.
