The Halifax Mooseheads are back.
They open their 32nd season in Charlottetown Friday night.
New head coach Brad MacKenzie says they want to build on the team’s legacy.
“It’s our job every single day as staff, players, or whatever your role is with this organization to carry that legacy and keep pushing this thing forward,” said MacKenzie, who was promoted from the assistant coach role.
The team has several returning players from last year’s team that upset Drummondville in the first round.
They include captain Owen Phillips, Liam Kilfoil and Quinn Kennedy.
“We have a lot of new and returning players in the fold. I’m excited to see how the guys that were here last year will take a step forward, and then to see where the new players fit.”
Halifax will play their home opener Saturday night against the Islanders at 7 p.m.
Mooseheads anthem singer Peter Baylis, who was diagnosed with brain cancer in the offseason, will perform O’ Canada.
