Reporting a fake emergency is a crime, say the RCMP.
They’re out with a reminder after two emergency calls in Kings County over the weekend.
One was for a report of gunshots in Cambridge, the other for an illegal burn at the same residence.
Fake reports are referred to as ‘swatting.’
Police say these types of calls are not pranks, and there are legal consequences of tying up resources in the community.
They say the calls are under investigation.
Kings District RCMP determined that two emergency calls were incidents of “swatting” and not associated to real emergency situations.https://t.co/1TpdA9UDL0
