Even for those of us with a healthcare provider, it can be a long wait to get an appointment.
I’ve been dealing with some sinus pain for just over a week now and a friend recommended a virtual appointment with Nova Scotia Health. It ended up being such an easy process.
I downloaded the YourHealthNS app – you could also use the website here.
If you haven’t created an account, you really should, it’s very helpful and you can see test results from the past few years.
Once I created my account, I was able to use Virtual Care NS to consult with a healthcare provider. We typed back and forth and after asking me about my symptoms, prescribed 2 medications for me. Then I accepted them, selected my pharmacy of choice and was done.
From account verification to prescription request being sent to the pharmacy, it was about 30 minutes.

Nova Scotians with a primary care provider can use VirtualCareNS for 2 free Basic Care visits within the calendar year. These visits are available 24/7/365 and can be used for basic healthcare advice or prescription renewals (except controlled substances).
If you do not have a primary care provider, you can access unlimited Basic Care consultations. For those who do not have a primary care provider and need to be seen in-person, you may be referred to in-person care at a Primary Care Clinic near you
