The Eastern Counties Regional Library (ECRL) expects programming to stay the same for the next while.
The ECRL Director of Communications ECRL and Engagement, Michelle Greencorn says their programing and services will remain the same for the next fiscal year, although increased funding is needed for future years.
“We will make every effort to sustain our current service levels for the 2026 and 2027 fiscal year, and we will use any internal financial resources we have to ensure that that continues,” she assured.
“We have reached out to our municipal units for additional funds to increase our collections and materials. We’ve increased our fundraising efforts, and we’ve started seeking business or corporate sponsorships and donations to support library services.”
Last year, the ECRL did receive additional provincial funding.
Now, they are seeking community support of completing a survey and writing letters to help them receive better funding in the future.
“We really just encourage everyone to complete our Community Engagement Survey, which will provide us that information about the public’s priorities when it comes to library services,” shared Greencorn.
The Community Engagement Survey can be completed online or at any of their library locations.
She also encourages you to write letters to local politicians explaining how libraries and their services are beneficial to you firsthand.
“Huge thanks to our library users who have reached out, to express their support, and to encourage others to follow their lead,” expressed Greencorn.
“We welcome donations from the public to be able to buy more books and contribute to our collection.”
