A significant investment will help pedestrian connectivity, safety and accessibility in Antigonish County.
Through the Growth and Renewal for Infrastructure Development (GRID) Program, the Houston Government is giving $1,356,970 to construct new sidewalks with supporting infrastructure.
“Sidewalks connect communities, and accessible buildings connect residents to the services they need,” said Antigonish MLA Michelle Thompson.
“This new infrastructure means safer routes for students, seniors, and families.”
The funding will construct about 1.6 kilometres of new walkways and an accessible entrance and washrooms at the Municipal Administration Building.
The Houston Government has invested over $257 million in municipal infrastructure across Nova Scotia since 2021.
These types of upgrades help communities to modernize critical services and plan for the future.
