Federal MP Michael Ma may have crossed the floor to gain some voting freedom, according to a political expert.

“The only kind of way out of this kind of straight jacket is to take the big step, then, of crossing the floor,’ said McKercher.
McKercher says MPs in Canada should be allowed to vote outside the party line.
However, McKercher says crossing the floor is much different than voting, especially when your constituents elected a representative from another party.
Last month, Nova Scotia MP Chris d’Entremont also ditched the Tories to join the Liberals.
