Environment Canada has released a special weather statement for northern Cape Breton on Sunday.
They say the storm is forecasted to begin as snow in they afternoon, with a possible prolonged period of freezing rain, especially within higher terrain.
The freezing rain is expected to eventually change to rain overnight.
As this system moves away on Monday there could be very strong winds with snowsqualls impacting northern Cape Breton, which may lead to difficult traveling conditions with both whiteouts and power outages possible.
This is due to another intense low pressure system moving into the Maritimes this weekend.
