Funding from the province to research how addictions and mental health are influenced by social and environmental factors, such food security, housing, education, employment and social inclusion.
The province says $400,000 is available with grants of up to $100,000 over a couple of years for the projects.
“Mental health and wellness are influenced by many factors, like social environments, access to housing, education and more,” said Brian Comer, Minister of Addictions and Mental Health. “Research that is focused on Nova Scotia and what shapes mental health and addiction here at home will help us build a stronger system of care for all.”
The school lunch program and free bus passes for those on income assistance are ways the government says it works with partners to reduce social barriers and influence health outcomes.
The deadline to apply is February 11 at 1 p.m.
