Are you looking for local groups to go walking outdoors with?
Hike Nova Scotia puts on nearly 80 hikes across the province each week.
The Program Manager Catherine Droesbeck says their friendly and inclusive program brings people together for physical activity, social connection and overall wellness.
She tells us how joining NS Walks help you get outside for exercise and fresh air, especially in winter when people tend to hibernate indoors.
“Being able to have something in your calendar, you know, a regular walk time, is a good way to ensure that you get it in and get those benefits,” explained Droesbeck.
The organization is grateful to be funded provincially by the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism, and Heritage and for all their volunteers who make the walks happen.
They are looking to expand the program and are currently seeking a new volunteer Walk Leader in Richmond County.
If you are interested in the volunteer opportunity, register here for the upcoming Zoom meeting on Thursday, January 22 from 9 a.m. to noon by the day before.
