Larry’s Catch — a seafood company with deep South Shore roots — made its national television debut on CBC’s Dragons’ Den, and walked away with a deal after impressing the panel.
The business, co‑founded by Glen Creaser of Chester along with partners James Quinn and Javier Mejorada, pitched their direct‑to‑door service that delivers Canadian wild‑caught seafood to customers across the country. The company began as a personal mission for Creaser, who left Riverport for university in Ontario and quickly realized how hard it was to find seafood comparable to what he grew up with. What started as bringing seafood in for himself eventually grew into a Canada‑wide subscription‑style business.
The name Larry’s Catch is a tribute to Creaser’s father, Larry, a lifelong fisherman. “It’s my way of carrying on that tradition,” Creaser said. “What better name than Larry’s Catch? It’s got a good ring to it.”
The trio went on the show seeking both investment and national exposure — and they got exactly that. Their pitch attracted interest from three Dragons. In the end, they accepted a deal from tech investor Michelle Romanow: $150,000 for 22.5 per cent of the company.
Creaser says the experience was about more than just money. “We saw it as an amazing opportunity to spread our mission and make Canadian wild‑caught seafood more accessible,” he said.
The company has expanded rapidly in recent months, now able to deliver to about 80 per cent of the Canadian population. Creaser says their next goals include reaching Newfoundland, opening warehouses in Nova Scotia and British Columbia, and reducing delivery times and costs.
Despite growing nationally, the South Shore remains central to the business. “I’ve been very overwhelmed with the local support around the South Shore and all of Nova Scotia,” Creaser said.
The episode is now available for streaming on CBC Gem.
