The executive director of the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce says local business owners are doing what they can to adapt in the face of the coronavirus, and she hopes customers will too.
Amanda Mombourquette says business owners are already facing absences, supply chain breakdowns, and decreased demand.
Mombourquette told The Hawk Morning Show local business owners do a lot for their communities, and many are struggling now.
“They’re here for our communities with volunteering, supporting our sports teams, and the list goes on and on- we need to be able to reciprocate that support as much as we can,” she said. “What we’re really urging people to do is to be creative when it comes to finding ways to support small business.”
Mombourquette said she’s proud of the many local business owners stepping up during the pandemic by offering delivery and modified hours for immune-compromised customers, as well as increasing cleaning standards across the board.
She said they still want to provide services to their communities while protecting the health and safety of their employees and customers.
Mombourquette said everyone must do what they can to limit contact, and slow the spread of COVID-19.
