The MP for Cape Breton-Canso says it’s the small things that will keep us safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mike Kelloway says all of the measures that have been put in place to fight the spread of the virus are important, and everyone needs to take them seriously.
Kelloway told The Hawk Morning Show we can’t ignore public health recommendations.
“My dearly departed dad, who was a miner in charge of mine rescue, would say ‘smarten up b’y’, and in all honesty, it is that- let’s be less selfish and more community,” he said. “This is not a dress rehearsal- this is an important period of time in the history of the world.”
Kelloway said he’s confident the people of Cape Breton-Canso will take his father’s advice.
He said we’re all in this together, so it’s important to follow rules on social distancing, cough or sneeze into your elbow, and practice good handwashing.
The House of Commons is being recalled to put forward legislation to fight the spread of COVID-19 Tuesday.
