The Member of Parliament for Cape Breton-Canso says he’s pleased his fellow MPs were able to pass bill C-13.
The federal stimulus package contains $82 billion to help counter the economic impact of COVID-19.
Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway says Tuesday’s return to the House of Commons didn’t go exactly as planned, and it took longer to pass the bill than expected.
Kelloway told The Hawk Morning Show we still saw democracy at work.
“The government side, the opposition side called a time out, in lack of better words,” he said. “They got into a room, and they, basically, pounded it out.”
Kelloway said the package provides emergency support for workers on EI, as well as workers whose EI is ending, or who wouldn’t normally be eligible for EI.
