
The province confirmed three deaths due to COVID-19 on Saturday and they occurred at the Northwood long-term care home in Halifax Regional Municipality.
That brings the total number of deaths in Nova Scotia to seven.
Premier Stephen McNeil says his greatest fear was that COVID-19 would make its way into long-term care homes.
In a press release, McNeil said “I was so sad to learn of this devastating loss of life.”
He says the province is working with Northwood to implement an emergency plan to isolate the virus and protect your loved ones.
The province also confirmed 43 new cases of COVID-19 and the total across the province is now 649.
11 individuals are currently in hospital, including five in the ICU.
The QEII Health Sciences Centre microbiology lab completed 1,310 tests on Friday and is operating 24-hours a day.
Nova Scotia has 20,312 negative test results and 184 individuals have now recovered and their cases of COVID-19 are considered resolved.
