The mayor of Port Hawkesbury said good compliance in the town has made it easier for them to roll back the public health restrictions around COVID-19.
Brenda Chisholm-Beaton said the town has reopened its pump track and trailheads.
After Tuesday’s regular council meeting, Chisholm-Beaton said provincial data shows the community’s compliance.
“We haven’t had any new cases in our region for quite some time,” she said. “My sense is that, the Town of Port Hawkesbury, the citizens living within the town, have done a tremendous job of respecting the public health mandate.”
Chisholm-Beaton said their playground, basketball and tennis courts remain closed to protect public health and safety.
She said sports fields will reopen when ground conditions improve.
Chisholm-Beaton said, even with the reopened facilities, physical distancing and good hygiene practices remain in place.
