Municipal officials in Inverness Co. have held the line on tax rates.
Councillors approved a residential rate of $1.05/$100 of assessment and a commercial rate of $1.91/$100 of assessment when they passed their 2020-21 budget during their regular meeting Thursday.
Betty Ann MacQuarrie, the warden of the municipality, tells The Hawk that’s despite a $382,000 shortfall, which they covered with reserve funds.
“That’s how we just brought it up to par and balanced the budget,” she says. “We had to do some tweaking; however, the tax rates remain the same.”
MacQuarrie says COVID-19 did have an impact, but it wasn’t significant.
She says they’re still working to approve their capital plan.
