The 2020-21 school year officially starts Tuesday.
Not everyone is happy- the provincial back-to-school plan has faced much criticism from the president of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union.
Paul Wozney has said schools are in a “state of chaos.”
Paul Landry, the executive director of the Strait Regional Centre for Education, told The Hawk Morning Show he’s personally walked through each of the region’s schools.
“I feel our schools are ready and well-prepared for students to be coming back.”
Landry said he’s seen the work that’s been done, and he’s confident in the safety measures in place.
He said local teachers have told him they’re ready.
“From what I’m hearing- from our teachers and our staffs across the region- is that everyone is quite excited to get back into the school, see their students, and to get on with the school year.”
Landry said he’s pleased with how things went during the summer.
He said things always go right down to the wire for opening in a normal year, and this year is no different.
