The warden of Antigonish Co. says their Christmas parade is very special.
Town and county officials announced they cancelled their annual Santa Claus parade and tree lighting event due to COVID-19 Monday.
After Monday’s special council meeting, Owen McCarron, Antigonish Co.’s warden, said they’re following public health guidelines.
“These are tough decisions when you’re cancelling events like that- Christmas parades are very special,” he said. “We and our staff are working right now to look at some other opportunities.”
McCarron said they’ll try to engage residents in Christmas celebrations in lower numbers.
He said this is one of many things COVID-19 has impacted.
