Anyone coming into the province from New Brunswick must isolate, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Premier Stephen McNeil and Chief Medical Officer of Health Doctor Robert Strang made the announcement at Friday’s COVID-19 update, they also extended holiday gathering restrictions until Jan. 24.
McNeil made himself clear.
“What we’re saying here is: do not go to New Brunswick, and New Brunswickers, do not come here,” he said. “Unless it is essential purposes.”
Doctor Strang said, with increasing COVID-19 numbers in that province, anyone coming from there into our province must isolate for 14 days.
He said the rules include people coming back into our province.
“We’re asking Nova Scotians now to avoid any nonessential travel to New Brunswick,” he said. “So, if they are in New Brunswick now, they need to listen to that, and now is the time to come home as quickly as possible.”
Doctor Strang said, like the last time border restriction were put in place, there are exceptions for daily commuters, medical appointments, and custody arrangements.
He also says anyone who visited New Brunswick in the last 14 days must isolate and book a COVID-19 test, staying in isolation until they have a negative COVID-19 test result. Anyone who hosted someone from that province must book a test as well but does not need to isolate.
Two new cases were announced in the province Friday. Both are travel related, one each in Eastern Zone and Central Zone. 29 active infections total.
