Officials with Festival Antigonish have announced their first play of the 2021 season.
It follows the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
They’re holding their first-ever outdoor “wilderness” play at Keppoch Mountain.
Andrea Boys, FAST’s artistic director, tells The Hawk the pandemic has changed everything about how plays can be staged.
“We are looking at how to keep theater going for our artists and our community,” she says. “This summer is something that we would have never been able to do in the time before; it’s not our mandate to go into the forest and present a promenade-style production.”
Boyd says “Robin Hood: The Great Escape” will be broken into scenes around the Keppoch Mountain trail.
She says they’ve had an opportunity to learn all kinds of new skills.
“All of this has been new, which is exciting and fabulous.”
Boyd says the show will run for two weeks in August.
